The food is generally good at the Carolina Brewery in Pittsboro, but man, the service is always highly mediocre. Our waitress did fine, but the lady doing the seating was just odd. She was giving one guy in our party crap for wearing a Tony Stewart cap in a friendly way, but it's still just a dumb thing for restaurant staff to do. Then later she stopped by our table to ask who we all worked for and be all chatty, all the while holding my arm and whacking me on the back. Again, not something you do to strangers, and not why we came there.

Yeah, supper was jacked up tonight. Ash intended to do an awesome chicken dish in the crock pot, but somehow forgot to plug it in this morning. Didn't realize until she got back around lunch time that it was never really on. She had a 6pm meeting at school and I didn't want to go out again (during this ugly weather), so the kids had leftovers and I had pb&j.

Short list today. Not much snacking (though the pb&j was at 10:20pm, which probably isn't the greatest idea but I was getting kind of hungry).

  • roast beef, mashed potatoes, and gravy (from the other night)

  • pb&j sandwich with Smuckers all natural crunchy peanut butter and spreadable fruit (strawberry)
I was tempted by the lure of pizza at an event tonight, but was able to avoid it. It also appeared that if I wanted water I might have to take a cup in the bathroom, but I was saved by a hidden case of bottled water. They did have plenty of soda (diet and otherwise) available along with a good beer selection, so the idea of going to the bathroom for water in a foreign household didn't seem great. It would have just been at least a little weird to do that, I think.

Normally I get three tacos and an order of chips and queso from Armadillo, but those chips and queso, in large quantity have to be bad for me, right? But somehow I'm thinking not really the more I think about it, and the four tacos didn't fill me up like the three+chips do, so I'll have to re-think that one.

Bad Day.

It was a bad day on two, I didn't eat very well, and two I forgot to post this last night like normal.

So, no vegetables, couple hot dogs, etc. At least I didn't have much sugar again. Still, not a good day.

My workout was pretty tough today...don't know if that was it, but I've been pretty hungry today. Had to have a pb&j late, even. *sigh*

Breakfast was light today since I got up a little late. But I have an excuse! Insomnia. Woke up at 3:45 (thanks to a child) and just couldn't go back to sleep until around 6am. *sigh* No workout today...hitting it again tomorrow, though. Five days in a row is enough anyway. Might get six starting tomorrow, but have a weekend plus a couple days off after that.

I'm not sure how to define today.

You tell me.

  • huge Chef Salad from Elmo's in Carrboro

  • 10oz Ribeye, five ribs, baked potato (salt and copious butter), three yeast rolls (some butter), two french fries (honey mustard and stolen from the kids), all from Texas Steakhouse
  • Cytofuse recovery shake
Fat is probably still high, but sugar has been in check all week. The Elmo's salad had ham, turkey, roast beef, one whole boiled egg, cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce and I put honey dijon vinaigrette on it. It's a large salad, too, and I ate it all. Ate every bit of my dinner, too. Was fairly hungry at dinner, but was pretty full after.

Oh, and while I'm not breaking things down by meal, I am trying to keep everything in the order it was eaten. When you see breakfast as a shake and a bar followed by a recovery shake, that means I did a morning workout. There's a recovery shake at the end of today because I went and ran on the treadmill when we got home from supper. Even on days when I play basketball at lunch, I typically sleep late those days and have the bar and shake before noonball, then a recovery shake right after (I take that with me now) and then lunch pretty quickly after that.

I feel a bad day coming on at some point, but I'll go with "good" for today. I'm open to opinions as well as suggestions on healthy snacks. So far I've got fruit, nuts, and Clif bars in my arsenal.

My overall caloric intake is down and probably too low as I've been hungry a LOT. But we're going to have more fruit and nuts and stuff around starting tomorrow, I think. Gonna do better. Strongly tempted by some chocolate on Alisa's desk as well as some mini Reese's cups on the counter this evening. Stayed away. I'm thinking I need to have a small treat every now and then, though, or I might binge at some point.

Decent Day.

Seemed to be hungry all day and kept trying to do healthy snacks, but it never went away. The salad at The Loop was decent sized, and finishing Zach's grilled cheese seems to have put me in a happy place, but it obviously wasn't the best thing for me. Oh well.

The day is far from over and there's a visit to the Dean Dome in my future tonight, but I will only be having water there. This is day three with no soda. I've had somewhat limited sleep the last two nights, so going soda-less today has been a struggle. Dying for the caffeine. Happy to have won the fight, though. I need to buy more Clif bars to have around as they are reasonably healthy as well as filling snacks, though I'm going to try to stay with just fruit when I can. Nature makes good snacks, too.

Decent Day.

  • piece of Lizzie's gingerbread and a cup of whole milk

Also updating a few more food products. I take Garden of Life Living Multi supplements every day. My Muscle Provider shakes also usually have a half scoop of Garden of Life Super Seed. It's good additional fiber and slows the absorption of the rest of the shake for better energy delivery.

It was a good day.

The weigh in wasn't so good this morning at my workout, so I'm going to do something about it. More exercise and eating way better. So here's today:

I'm going to only list drinks that I have in a day that are not water. I'm not really concerned with quantities on anything relatively good for me, though I'll try to list quantities on things I have that are bad for me. We can assume I'll be having plenty of water and I don't care to track that anyway.

Also note that I tried a couple of online food diary sites and hated them. Took way too long to search through and find your food items, and I don't really care to calorie count anyway. I just want to blog what I ate to keep track of it and help know that I'm going to be posting in public when I eat crap, too. No crap today. Wheee.
